The Eastern Virginia Chapter was formed
in 1985.
Make-A-Wish ® grants wishes to children
with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich
the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Any
child between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18, regardless
of race, religion or socio-economic status who is medically
qualified by his or her physician, is eligible.
Our territory covers all of Hampton Roads, Eastern Shore, and the counties of Southampton, Isle of Wight, Sussex, Surry, James City, York and Greensville. There are two other chapters in Virginia, one in Richmond, and one in Washington DC.
Wishes are funded by contributions from individuals,
school groups, companies, service organizations, grants,
and payroll deductions like Combined Federal Campaign
and United Way.
Special events are also held to benefit
Make-A-Wish. The money raised in this community, stays
here to benefit children who may be your neighbors.
We are prohibited from soliciting funds through telemarketing
or door-to-door. If you are asked to contribute, please
make sure it is really Make-A-Wish. Other organizations
have similar names. |
