STORIES OF LIGHT® CAMPAIGN 2007
Stories of Light® is a campaign of awareness and inspiration. Hearing the inspirational stories of the children we serve can have a dramatic effect on everyone who listens. We call these real life tales "Stories of Light" because they tend to brighten and inspire the lives of everyone who hears them.

This year's Wish Children who will be featured in our Stories of Light® campaign,
include:
Nina,
age 7
Last
year Nina was one of our featured wish kids for
the 2006 Stories of Light Holiday Campaign. We
wanted to follow up with her to see how the year
has been since she had her wish in 2006. Nina’s
wish was to visit her Opa (grandfather) who lived
in Germany because they both had cancer and were
going through similar treatments. Just a
few weeks after Nina returned from Germany, Opa
lost his battle with his disease. In January 2007,
Nina had a relapse of her illness and has endured
another round of treatments in an attempt to have
the cancer return to remission. Nina and her family
created many memories on her wish trip to Germany
that will last a lifetime.
Ashton,
age 5
Ashton
is an energetic 5 year-old whose smile lights up
a room. Make-A-Wish gave him a countdown calendar
prior to his wish and it was the highlight of his
nights before he went to bed. Ashton just couldn’t
wait to put the last sticker on the calendar. Ashton
enjoyed meeting all of the Disney characters like
Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Spiderman and a host of others. He
also had fun at the other parks and especially enjoyed
eating lots of ice cream! Ashton doesn’t
have any stickers left for his calendar, but he does
have lots of memories of his visit to Disney World.
Nathan,
age 12
Nathan
is a handsome pre-teen of age 12. His wish
is to meet the infamous basketball legend, Michael
Jordan, which will take place on December of this
year in Chicago, Illinois. The sports icon
is Nathan’s favorite basketball player and
he looks up to him. After enduring a year of treatments
for his illness, Nathan hopes he’ll be able
to shoot hoops with the star. That would
truly be a ‘magical’experience!
Morgan,
age 11
Sweet
and always happy, Morgan’s wish was to visit
a Dude Ranch. Her wish was granted when she
became a cowgirl at Rimrock Dude Ranch in Wyoming.
The ranch is surrounded by the Absaroka Mountains,
so Morgan was able to really get into the mood
of being a cowgirl. Her days were filled
with horseback riding, singing, games, rafting,
seeing a real rodeo and enjoying the majestic beauty
of this wild, wild, west adventure. Morgan proved
to have a true rugged spirit that brought lots
of smiles throughout her journey.
Maggie,
age 5
Cherub-faced
Maggie is truly a sweetheart at the tender age
of 5. She was adopted from Ukraine when she was
18 months old and at her two-year-old checkup,
the doctors discovered she had a rare form of cancer.
Now after many treatments, she is vivacious, inspiring
and her cancer is in remission. Her wish is to
go to Hawaii and swim with the dolphins with a
customized mermaid fin so she could have the experience
of being just like a mermaid. Little Mermaid is
her favorite movie. Maggie also wants to see the
hula dancers and participate in a luau. Maggie
will make her journey to the land of the blue seas
in March of 2008.
