REGINA ABBOTT, WISH GRANTER
Regina inspired to volunteer with Make-A-Wish when a friends’ child was granted his wish to visit Disney World. Because of his multiple hospitalizations and surgeries, this family had not had a vacation in 16 years. The wonderful celebration of family, health and life that this break afforded her friends, was nothing short of the best medicine in the world. Regina says that her most moving and heartwarming wish took place at St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children for a wish child who is a resident there. She said, “Watching a non-speaking child respond to the live voice of his favorite gospel singer was deeply touching, and a memory that will be etched in my heart forever.” In 2007, Regina was the recipient of the chapter’s “Heart to Heart” Award which recognized her for being a dedicated volunteer who through compassion and interviewing skills, finds the most heartfelt wish from wish children of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Eastern Virginia.
When not busy managing two businesses you can find Regina pursuing her interests in photography, art and watch collecting as well as gourmet cooking to which she incorporates herbs from an herb garden that she cultivates in her own yard. She is currently enrolled in the Spa Management Program through University of California, Irvine.
A Boston native, and an avid Red Sox fan, she once lived within walking distance of Fenway Park. She is now a resident of Chesapeake.
